I strongly recommend Majeka Hse. It is located in a quiet , smart residential area close to Vriesenhof wine farm and very convenient for places such as Dornier, Waterford etc and also for restaurants such as Terroir, Bodega, Overture, Rust en Vrede. A two minute walk will take you into the vineyards where you can walk around – all very rural .
The property is beautifully maintained and very thoughtfully designed and laid out. I had a Premier room, all appear to have an outside balcony, area - mine faced east which was great for a morning coffee in glorious sunshine. The 3 more expensive rooms overlook a outside small pool which may be a good choice in summer.
The rooms are very comfortable, excellent beds, quality linens, towelling, super and generous toiletries. Plenty of storage space, Nespresso type coffee machine (they oddly charge for the use of more than one capsule per guest per day!). Flat screen TV neatly housed in an art frame, comprehensive room info and a huge selection of dvds available. Well stocked mini bar. Bathrooms are well lit with good laying down areas, excellent water pressure in the separate shower. Comprehensive room servicing during the evening with the bathroom completely serviced and some tasty fudge left.
Breakfast was very good, lots of home made and stylish items. There is a cosy library bar, open fire, antique grand piano and plenty of art works and info around.
Lovely outside areas with manicured gardens and plenty of loungers.
Owners actively involved at breakfast during my visit. Staff were charming friendly and engaging - particularly the girl on reception at check-out.
There is a pleasant indoor pool (which can open up quite a bit to the outside, a steam room, sauna and small gym. The spa offers a comprehensive range of treatments and what I sampled was most enjoyable and the staff again charming.
Very good value for what is offered! I would certainly return.
