An amazing review by Condé Nast Johansens, pits Majeka House as the 2017 Award Winner of the Best Design Hotel in the Luxury Hotels, Spas and Venues category in South Africa.
“Full of character and high-spec finishes with the warmth of a private home, Majeka House is undeniably seductive.”
Be prepared for Lloyd and Karine’s 23-room hotel, restaurant and spa to disrupt your Cape Wine Route plans: you’ll be staying a little while longer than originally planned…
Full of character and high-spec finishes with the warmth of a private home, Majeka House is undeniably seductive. First, there’s the pretty garden setting in a leafy suburb of Stellenbosch, then there’s the quirky design features that have you looking up close and making notes. The Majeka Spa’s menu of varied treatments and Makaron Restaurant’s gourmet dishes and fine wines are the indulgent extras that seal the deal: you’re staying an extra day or two!
Karine hails from France, which explains the stylish nod to French Riviera chic. The bright white façade dazzles in the sun, while the emerald green awnings provide shade for the guest rooms that range from Premier Collection rooms to Poolside Choices. (Complimentary extras such as a Himalayan salt bed treatment and afternoon refreshments are included with stays in some rooms.)
Majeka is situated just under an hour from Cape Town, within driving distance of several first-rate golf courses and the beautiful Assegaaibosch Nature Reserve in Jonkershoek Valley. Closer by – a mere 11-minute stroll – is the nearest vineyard and the hip gastro scene of buzzy Stellenbosch on the doorstep. But why head out when you can kick back in MLounge for a South African fynbos mojito before dining on the refined fare of Makaron?
